The British Pub
As our high streets and villages increasingly bear witness to the demise of our beloved British Pub with boarded up windows and 'lease for sale' signs, it begs the question – do we still need or want our local pub?

Not wishing to depress you, but Summer is nearly over – booo. As was the case last year, we said goodbye to the Summer with a Beer festival on August BH, however, not this year. But there will be a great weekend of activities to look forward to, and something for all ages. On Saturday the 27th we have a Charity Abseil down the Church Tower. Organised by Holt Bellringers – namely Paul Gaade and Cheryl Jones, there will be orchestrated descents – please ring Cheryl or Paul on 01829 271396 or 07836600572 to book your time. Any scents of alcohol on your breath and the 'ropemaster' will decline your abseil, so book an early appointment so that you can have a drink after – and boy, you'll need one!
This absolute pleasure (for sadists) will cost you £10 – with proceeds going to Nightingale House. So think of the good you're doing whilst gritting your teeth sliding down that rope. For those who need food rather than a drink afterwards, there will be a BBQ sizzling away in the Beer Garden. As if that excitement wasn't enough for one day, in the evening we have the True Voice of Wales – Davi Chris.
Following his debut to great acclaim at the May Beer Festival, even Doggy and Roycey were dancing, he is back for more on Saturday Evening. Come and hear Davi's truly amazing voice, and enjoy a great evenings entertainment. Sunday has been designated recovery day, and it's the kids turn on Monday with a bouncy castle. As a prelude, we have the popular monthly quiz expertly hosted by Greg, on Thursday 25th from 9pm.
